Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to help you prepare for this unique nature hike.
How difficult is the hike to the waterfall?
The hike to Perolniyoc Waterfall is considered moderate. It is an uphill hike lasting approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace, and 1 hour to return. It is suitable for anyone in reasonable physical condition, but you should be prepared for an incline.
Can we swim in the waterfall?
While you can get very close to the base of the waterfall to feel the refreshing mist and take incredible photos, swimming is not recommended as the water comes directly from the high Andes and is extremely cold.
What should I pack for the day?
Bring a comfortable daypack, good hiking or trail shoes, a warm jacket (it can be cool near the waterfall and cave), a sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and plenty of drinking water. Trekking poles are optional but helpful.
