Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to help you prepare for your conservation trip.

Do I need experience to reforest?

No previous experience is required! Our Conservation Coordinator and local community partners will provide full training on proper planting techniques to ensure the highest survival rate for the seedlings. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to work outdoors.

What kind of trees will we be planting?

We focus exclusively on native high-Andean species. The standard trees are *Queuña* (*Polylepis*) and sometimes *Chachacomo*, which are essential for regulating water cycles, preventing erosion, and providing habitats for native wildlife. These trees are critical for the local ecosystem.

How physically demanding is the reforestation day?

The activity is moderately physically demanding. While the digging is supported by community members, you will be active outdoors at high altitude (above 3,400m). We work at a steady pace and encourage frequent hydration and rest breaks. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended.
