How to Secure Your Expedition

Led by General Manager, professional marathoner, and trilingual tour guide Porfirio Carbajal Gutierrez, Kuska Expeditions operates from the heart of Ollantaytambo, connecting you to Cusco and the magnificent trails of Machu Picchu. Follow these steps to book your adventure.

1
Inquiry & Itinerary Design

Contact us via email or WhatsApp with your desired dates, trek/tour preferences, and group size. We will craft a specialized itinerary tailored to your fitness level.

2
Permit Verification

Our team verifies live availability for essential permits, particularly for the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu circuits, which are strictly regulated by the Peruvian government.

3
Deposit Confirmation

To officially secure your permits and lodging, a non-refundable initial deposit is required. This allows us to instantly purchase your non-transferable entrance tickets.

4
Briefing in Ollantaytambo

Receive your final itinerary. We will coordinate a pre-trek briefing at our office in the Plaza de Ollantaytambo to discuss high-altitude safety, gear, and final balances.

Booking & Trekking FAQs

Why is the deposit non-refundable?
Your deposit is immediately used to purchase non-transferable, non-refundable permits from the Ministry of Culture (such as the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu tickets) under your exact passport details. Therefore, this portion cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
Do I need to send my passport details?
Yes. We require a clear photo of the passport you will travel with to book any permits. If you renew your passport before your trip, you must bring both the old (expired) passport and the new one to gain entry to the trails and the Citadel.
Where do we pay the remaining balance?
The remaining balance must be paid in full during your briefing in Cusco or Ollantaytambo before the expedition begins. We accept USD or Peruvian Soles (cash is highly preferred to avoid local card transaction fees).
Are itineraries adjustable for runners vs. hikers?
Absolutely. Led by a marathoner, our operations in the Sacred Valley can be customized for trail running pace or traditional hiking pace. Please specify your athletic background during the booking inquiry so we can tailor the route safely.
