On the second day, embark on a beautiful hike through the breathtaking landscapes of the Patacancha Valley to explore the ancient pre-Inca fortress of Pumamarka, finishing with a scenic descent into Ollantaytambo.

The Community of Huilloc
- We begin our adventure after breakfast at your hotel with a 45-minute private drive from Ollantaytambo to the Huilloc community.
- Upon arrival, local families will give us a warm welcome. We will share a traditional tea and help prepare a farm-to-table lunch.
- Participate in a deeply spiritual Pachamama ceremony, engage with the local children, and witness an authentic exhibition of ancestral textile weaving.
- Settle into our private, comfortable campsite for a peaceful evening and dinner under the Andean stars.
Hike to Pumamarka
- Wake up to a hot cup of tea and a hearty camp breakfast.
- Say farewell to your host families and begin the scenic hike down the Patacancha Valley.
- Explore the ancient Wari-Inca fortress of Pumamarka with your expert guide.
- Descend along the magnificent Muscapuquio agricultural terraces before arriving back in Ollantaytambo.

Am I expected to buy textiles in Huilloc?
While the community will proudly display their beautiful handmade textiles, there is absolutely no obligation to purchase anything. However, if you are looking for authentic souvenirs, buying directly from the weavers is an excellent way to support their livelihood.
How cold does it get at night?
The campsite is located at high altitude, so temperatures drop significantly once the sun sets. It can reach near freezing at night. We provide high-quality four-season tents and thick sleeping mats, but you must bring warm thermal layers and a cold-weather sleeping bag.
How difficult is the hike on Day 2?
The hike from Huilloc to Pumamarka and down to Ollantaytambo is considered moderate. You will largely be descending or walking along flat agricultural terraces, though the terrain is uneven. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended.
